Plastic X-10-style refills with partial ink fill so you can snip to needed size without leaking. This type of refill is known in the industry as a “short shot.” X-10 style is ballpoint refill from 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, which has a thinner tip than more modern x-20 refills. Comes WITHOUT a spring but there is a crimp to allow a spring. (If you need the spring that would fit these refills, please see our BPS1 model.) This adjustable or variable approach is perfect for rare and vintage pens that need a specific-sized refill. Just hold the refill against the current refill to match it and cut it down with a diagonal pliers or even a scissors! Comes in black or blue ink.

What if I Need the ink to be LESS than 1 3/4″ from tip?
Some pens require an EVEN SHORTER refill. That is no problem. Just cut it down to the desired length and then gouge out about another 1/2″ more of ink with a toothpick and clean up with a paper towel.
What if I Need the short refill WITHOUT the spring crimp (tab)?
Some pocket pens need the short refill without a spring and in those cases, it is very easy to remove the crimps with sandpaper.
